The Rising of the Shield Hero is the story of Naofumi Iwatani who gets summoned to a parallel world. He is given the role of Shield Hero along with 3 other men from parallel universes. The other men take the role of Sword, Spear, and Bow hero.
These Four Cardinal Heroes are tasked with fighting the Waves of Catastrophe to protect the world. Naofumi is soon betrayed which sets off a chain of events leaving him bitter and resentful towards the world.
It isn't until he employs a demi-human named Raphtalia and buys an egg that hatches into a bird-like monster whom he names “Filo” that he starts caring about the world that's treated him so poorly.
The Rising of the Shield Hero's first season was a big hit so the highly anticipated second season can't come soon enough.
